Both. I work directly with brands as a senior paid media consultant, owning strategy and execution end-to-end. I also work alongside existing in-house teams and external agencies, providing senior oversight, auditing, and strategic direction. If you have an agency and aren't confident in their performance, that's often the best starting point.
An agency runs dozens of accounts per account manager, has internal handoffs, and is commercially incentivised to retain you, not always to challenge you. A consultant works a smaller number of accounts, owns the strategy personally, and has no reason to stay quiet about underperformance. You get direct access, honest reporting, and someone whose business reputation depends entirely on your results.
